About EMBAN
EMBAN is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England. EMBAN’s role is to influence, inform and represent ethnic minority businesses across the UK. It raises the profile of ethnic minority businesses and ensure that mainstream services are appropriately targeted and accessible to ethnic minority businesses. EMBAN sits along side other national bodies such as the British Chambers of commerce, Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors in influencing government and providing a strong united voice to government on all matters relating to this agenda. Our aim is to be the primary independent, strategic advocacy body for Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) entrepreneurs in the UK.
EMBAN’s remit is achieved through the following objectives.
- To influence the development of national business and enterprise policy by co-ordinating intelligence for this agenda; drawing on key indicators; addressing data weaknesses to enable impacts to be understood; and monitoring trends and changing needs.
- To raise the profile of Ethnic Minority enterprise nationally by engaging ambassadors and advocates for BAME business and enterprise.
- To improve marketing and delivery of services to BAME communities by working with providers of mainstream business services including finance institutions.
- To improve accessibility of business and trade opportunities to take into account the needs of BAME entrepreneurs by working with relevant organisations skilled in developing supplier diversity in corporate business.
To improve the delivery of support to BAME business networks by co-ordinating and disseminating good practice on all aspects of management.
